Ready for Action – the subtle yet effective Brigade Reversing Cameras

Reversing, believe it or not, can be one of the most difficult parts of driving any vehicle, so when you’re backing up in a HGV or other large vehicle, it can be nearly impossible at times. The long sides and high rear ends of the vehicles can obscure the public, other road users and obstacles from the driver’s mirrors, increasing the risk of an accident, which, as any fleet owner will appreciate, can be particularly costly in terms of insurance and repair bills.

To make things easier, many haulage firms are turning to reversing cameras to help their drivers, increasing their all-round visibility thanks to monitors installed the cabs and cameras built into the blind spots.

At Brigade, we stock a wide range of reversing cameras as well as all of the monitors and accessories you could need to assist your drivers out on the road.

The cameras are available for the rear, side, front and internal views and come in a number of sizes and styles, while the monitors also range in size so that the driver can see everything around them in clarity, without being distracted by the large images in the corner of their eye.

The reason they’re not distracted is that the cameras only come on when the vehicle is put into reverse, ensuring your driver is giving the road their maximum attention to reduce the potential for accidents. If your driver is fully focused on the road, the chance of them being to blame for any accidents that may occur will be minimized, helping to keep down your insurance costs.

The side cameras are particularly helpful, as they can prevent sideswipe accidents, caused when drivers move across lanes thinking there is nothing in the other lane, because they’re obscured from their view, in the driver’s ‘blind spot.’ Triggered by the indicator being turned on, these cameras are also hidden when not in use.
