Brigade Wins OE Contract With Bell Equipment.

Brigade Elektronika has won an original equipment contract to supply camera monitor systems to Bell Equipment.

As part of the international Brigade Electronics Group and market leaders in vehicle safety systems, the company prides itself on being able to provide the necessary products and equipment to meet the demanding specifications of its customers.
Bell needed a system that complied with European legislative requirements for articulated dump trucks and in a competitive tender they decided on the Brigade system.

The Elite range 7” monitor complies to key standards for earth moving equipment (ISO 13766), electro-magnetic compatibility (‘e’, CE – crucial for European export into Germany) and environmental conditions encountered by electrical systems installed on vehicles (ISO 16750). It has been rigorously tested to withstand high levels of mechanical vibration and shock plus a wide operating temperature between -40°C and 70°C. The anti-glare screen is LED backlit offering longer life whilst the useful ‘button-lock’ feature means the monitor cannot be tampered with once set up. It also offers another camera input in case Bell or one of their customers need to extend the system in the future.

The Elite range heated rear view camera meets a similar range of standards and crucially a high level of ingress protection (IP68) for the dirty, dusty and wet environments likely to be encountered by the dumper. It offers 5 infra-red LEDs for ultra low light performance and has audio capability.

Both products are connected by an Elite range cable and offer a 3 year warranty. In addition, Brigade’s team of engineers in South Africa have incorporated a Deutsch connector for Bell to allow the monitor to integrate with the OEM harness.
Flip Opperman, Manager - Strategic Sourcing from Bell, said: “The reasons for Bell choosing the Brigade Reverse Camera System included the cost competitiveness of the system and it was one of a few systems that fulfil all the requirements of the Field of View ISO standard applicable to reverse cameras. The service from Brigade was prompt during the evaluation phase and the ease of installation and integration onto our vehicle was a deciding factor.”

By offering the combination of its worldwide distribution network (offices in the UK, across Europe, America and South Africa plus a network of distributors covering all five continents) and an engineering team delivering cutting edge high quality safety products Brigade can now count on JCB, Caterpillar, Lafarge, CNH and Ford amongst its customers.
Managing Director of Brigade Elektronika, Karel de Bont, said: “We are very pleased to be working with Bell Equipment and this proves our ability to handle both aftermarket and OE business.”
